Learning is the process of assimilating information, understanding it and remembering it for later use. When used in linguistics, learning is an artificial way of becoming fluent in a language by consciously learning it, as opposed to acquiring a language, which is seen as natural.

Language learning is the specific, congnitive exercise of assimilating a foreign language's grammar with the goal of speaking and understanding it.
