The 'present progressive is a verb conjugation or tense used in English and Spanish. The English and Spanish usage is similar, but quite different in some aspects, making it a pitfall for new learners of Spanish.

Formation

In Spanish, the present participle is formed by removing the verb's ending (er, ir, or ar), and adding ando in the case of ar verbs and iendo in the case of er or ir verbs. In English it is formed by adding ing to the end of the infinitive.
