Tag question

A tag question is an interrogative fragment added to a statement to turn it into a question.

In Spanish, tag questions are fixed words, such as ¿verdad?, ¿no es así?, ¿verdad que sí?, ¿no es cierto?. In English tag questions are highly variable and are constructed differently based on the previous sentence. For example:

Close the door, will you?
He's going to the store, isn't he?
He told you the truth, didn't he?
She had bought the book, hadn't she?
