A vowel (vocal in Spanish) is a letter that is not a consonant. There are 5 vowels in both Spanish and English.

a e i o u

almost all consonants follow these rules

a sound is like "a" in word "man" or "u" in word "duck"

e sound is like "e" in word "red" or "ea" in "read" (past)

i sound is like "ee" in word feet or "i" in word fit (there's no different or it's not very important)

o sound is like "o" in word fox or "au" in word Australia

u sound is like "oo" in tool and i think there is no word with "u" sound similar in english to spanish.
